Russia, North Korea renew nuclear testing plans after Trump remarks

In response to recent statements by President Donald Trump suggesting the United States might resume nuclear tests, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed officials to ready proposals for a potential resumption of Russia's own nuclear testing.

We are also hearing from a number of sources that North Korea's Kim Jong Un could conduct a nuclear test at the country's Punggye-ri nuclear test facility at some point in the near future. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is getting the latest on the renewed global interest in nuclear testing with retired Marine Intelligence Officer, Hal Kempfer.

“No one knows what Trump meant about ‘nuclear testing’ (he probably doesn’t himself),” Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of the Security Council chaired by Putin, posted on social media. “But he’s the president of the United States. And the consequences of such words are inescapable: Russia will be forced to assess the expediency of conducting full-fledged nuclear tests itself.”
