Today I’m playing my custom MIDI Rhodes, built during my visit to the Rhodes Factory in Leeds, and showing how I use Camelot to turn a keyboard rig into a fully controllable, layered live instrument. I start simple with the Rhodes on its own, then gradually build things up by adding bass, synths, splits, and expressive MIDI control.
I’ll layer a Minimoog bass, combine real and virtual Rhodes sounds, tweak velocity response, and end up with a five-layer performance setup that’s designed to be played, not programmed.
