El tercer objeto interestelar detectado, 3I/Atlas, ha capturado la atención mundial, y las nuevas imágenes del telescopio Hubble son desconcertantes. A diferencia de un cometa, las fotos no muestran una estela convencional [01:00], y un satélite detectó una emisión inusual de agua a gran distancia del Sol [03:24].El astrofísico de Harvard, Avi Loeb, pone todo su prestigio en juego al afirmar que 3I/Atlas es un dispositivo inteligente y artificial [13:33]. Sus argumentos son sólidos: la extraña trayectoria del objeto en el plano de los planetas, con una probabilidad de 1 en 20,000 [17:46], y el brillo detectado en la parte frontal, no en la posterior [15:34].
El impacto de sus declaraciones ha llegado al Congreso de EE. UU. La representante Ana Paulina Luna solicitó oficialmente a la NASA desviar la sonda Juno, que actualmente orbita Júpiter, para que intercepte y observe de cerca a 3I/Atlas en marzo de 2026 [07:26]. Una misión sin precedentes que podría confirmar el origen extraterrestre del objeto y la teoría de Loeb, quien propone la Escala Loeb [18:12] para clasificar estos visitantes interestelares.
