Otto grandi colonne in travertino rosa, composte da blocchi modulari, si riflettono in uno specchio d’acqua assieme agli archi rinascimentali del cortile di Palazzo Strozzi. Chi si affaccia nel Palazzo non può che rimanere sorpreso, quasi ipnotizzato, da questo scenario tra il primordiale e l’avveniristico. A ideare l’installazione There Are Other Fish In The Sea (Ci sono altri pesci nel mare) a cura di Arturo Galansino, è il collettivo danese Superflex formato dai tre artisti Jakob Fenger, Bjørnstjerne Christiansen e Rasmus Nielsen che da oltre trenta anni lavora per mettere in discussione e esplorare la natura della globalizzazione e i sistemi di potere. Il progetto, che arriva a Firenze a 60 anni dall’alluvione, è nato su una nave di ricerca nel Pacifico che gli ha fatto approfondire quanto accade sotto la superficie del mare «convinti che con questa prospettiva sia possibile cambiare insieme».
Le colonne, che nel colore evocano quello delle barriere coralline, hanno superfici sfaccettate e rappresentano i potenziali nuovi habitat per la vita marina anche quando i livelli dei mari si innalzeranno. Una sorta di architettura «interspecie». L’idea è di fondere ricerca artistica e scientifica per raggiungere una comprensione alternativa delle specie marine, che potrebbe influenzare il modo in cui progettiamo i nostri ambienti e oggetti. Generando dati rilevanti e aumentando la consapevolezza sull’innalzamento del livello del mare, i Superflex propongono così dal cuore di un luogo simbolo del passato, Palazzo Strozzi, lo squarcio per immaginare strutture che possano soddisfare bisogni e desideri degli esseri umani e delle creature marine.
