Birkensperrholz ist leicht, äußerst stabil und wird besonders dann geschätzt, wenn es in “russian quality” geliefert wird. Doch Birkensperrholz aus Russland darf seit 2022 gar nicht mehr in die EU gelangen. Trotzdem läuft das Geschäft weiter.In dieser Folge 11KM gehen wir mit Investigativ-Journalist Nick Schader auf die Spur des Birkenholzes. Gemeinsam mit seinem Kollegen Alexander Bühler hat er sich als Holzhändler ausgegeben und recherchiert, wie trickreich dabei mutmaßlich Sanktionen umgangen werden und wie die polnische Holzwirtschaft einen Weg gefunden hat, die Menge illegaler, russischer Holzimporte zu verringern.
