Extremes Wetter hat weite Teile Europa derzeit fest im Griff. In einigen Ländern stiegen die Temperaturen gestern wieder über die 40-Grad-Marke. Auch der Balkan ist betroffen. In Ungarn zwingen die Hitzewelle und der niedrige Wasserstand der Donau das Land zum Energiesparen. Die Beleuchtung für Wahrzeichen wurde ausgeschaltet. Das einzige Atomkraftwerk des Landes ist wegen des Wassermangels seit dem Wochenende abgeschaltet.Im Salzburger Land in Österreich dagegen sorgten heftige Gewitter für zahlreiche Rettungseinsätze. An mehreren Orten traten Flüsse über die Ufer, außerdem lösten sich Schlammlawinen von Berghängen. In Uttendorf, einer besonders stark betroffenen Gegend, waren Helfer die ganze Nacht im Einsatz.
