Can Broadway musicals drive social change? | Julia Dunetz | TEDxCornell

Tony Award-winning theater producer, Julia Dunetz, shares how stories can change the world, drawing on her experiences producing impactful Broadway plays and musicals such as HOW TO DANCE IN OHIO and SLAVE PLAY. Julia discusses how storytelling is a powerful tool in building empathy and advancing social progress with examples from her own shows. Julia argues that stories — especially those highlighting narratives on the margins — are crucial in fostering understanding, ultimately shaping culture, and driving change. She encourages everyone to engage with stories about experiences outside their own, believing that they can help create a kinder, more compassionate world.
