O carro flex já existe há 22 anos. A maioria dos motoristas, 70% deles, abastece apenas com gasolina e quase todos desconhecem as regrinhas básicas de abastecimento e ignoram se é possível misturar os dois combustíveis no tanque.Alguns até acham que se deve esvaziar o tanque com um deles para passar para o outro, por exemplo. E não sabem também que a maior vantagem da gasolina é ter maior autonomia, ou seja, menos visitas ao posto, enquanto a vantagem do etanol é oferecer, em geral, maior potência, maior desempenho ao carro.
E a maioria ainda acha que a vantagem financeira de abastecer com o etanol só se ele estiver custando até 70% da gasolina, pois saiba que essa regrinha não vale mais.
