Assam, Arunachal, Sikkim, Meghalaya Ravaged By Floods, Landslides; Rescue Ops by Army, IAF | N18G

Northeast India has continued to reel under the impact of relentless rains, landslides, and widespread flooding from last few days. Over 30 people have already died amid severe conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for the next five days, and has issued a red alert for the same. In the state of Manipur, the army has evacuated over 500 people from flood-hit Imphal. Twelve landslides and infrastructural damages have also been reported in Imphal. Around 19,000 people have been affected and 3,000 houses are damaged. And in the state of Assam, 764 villages in 19 districts have been hit by flash floods. Meanwhile, rescue operations are also underway in the state of Arunachal pradesh. The Indian Air Force rescued 14 stranded individuals in Dibang valley. In Mizoram too, about 100 families have been moved to safety.
