Diceva così nell'agosto scorso Mohammad Hannoun, presidente dell’Associazione Palestinesi d’Italia, tra i nove arrestati oggi con l'accusa di aver finanziato il movimento estremista responsabile dell'attacco del 7 ottobre. «Hamas fa parte del popolo palestinese, Hamas come movimento ha avuto più del 70% dei voti del popolo palestinese in Cisgiordania e nella striscia di Gaza, per cui Hamas è il legittimo rappresentante del popolo palestinese», diceva ancora Hannoun, parlando a LaPresse a margine della carovana per la Palestina organizzata a Milano, dopo essere stato inserito nella blacklist del Dipartimento del Tesoro statunitense con l’accusa di essere un finanziatore del terrorismo e di promuovere manifestazioni contro Israele. «Io sono simpatizzante di Hamas come sono simpatizzante di ogni fazione che lotta per i miei diritti», ha proseguito. «Per cui questa frottola, questa accusa di far parte di Hamas, di essere un leader di Hamas è una bugia, una bufala. Io non faccio parte di Hamas, io non sono leader di Hamas, io sono un palestinese, io mi impegno, mi sono impegnato da decenni nella lotta per i diritti del popolo palestinese», ha concluso.
