Zembilli kasabası, Murad'ın askerden izine gelmesiyle bayram yerine döner. Murad'ın kardeşi Fidan uzun zamandır, gizli saklı, Murad'ın can dostu Adem'e sevdalıdır. Adem'den tek isteği abisine ilişkilerini söylemesidir, saklamaktan yorulmuştur. Murad kasabaya döndüğünde, sevdalı olduğu Esma'ya görücü geldiğini öğrenir. Gitmeden önce söz kesmek ister ama Esma'nın babasının bir şartı vardır, Torosların namlı pehlivanı Balaban'ı yenerse, kızını verecektir. Kasabanın en havalı kızı Gülnur'a âşık olan, Murad ve Adem'in can kardeşi Fırıncı Kadir, aldığı bir mektupla Gülnur'u kaçırma planları kurmaya başlar. Harama el uzatmayan, naif kalbi ve kaygılarıyla Müezzin Vahit'i de bu plana dahil eder. Veteriner Tarık ise askerden dönmüş, kendisine bir yol çizmeye çalışırken, define bulma peşindedir. Bir elin beş parmağı gibi birbirinden ayrılmayan ama birbirine benzemeyen beş can dostunun planları hiç de istedikleri gibi ilerlemeyecektir.
