Curiosity, which begins with a question, is man’s greatest superpower—surpassing strength or wealth. Mahmoud challenges us to consider the current systems and whether there is greater value in genuine inquiry and understanding, urging listeners to rethink accepted systems and train the next generation to ask better questions to foster discovery, innovation, and empathy. Mahmoud Idriss was born in England but has lived in Sierra Leone since. He is currently in Year 9 at the British International School and Montessori Education in Freetown. He is a member of the student council and has served for a long time in various positions, mostly as class president. He always strives to be in positions of leadership so that everyone’s voice can be heard, even those who may not wantto speak up. He is very sporty and excels in events such as track, swimming, football, and volleyball. He has won multiple national swimming competitions and spelling bees, and has participated in many other sporting activities. He can speak two languages fluently and is on his journey to speaking French as well. Mahmoud enjoys animals and likes watching animal documentaries and videos. He has nine dogs. His main reason for wanting opportunities like TEDx is to share his point of view and allow others to gain wider and deeper knowledge on topics they might not have heard of before.
