Berliner Israel-Palästina-Restaurant: Wegen Gaza-Krieg droht Bankrott
Wenn die große Weltpolitik ein kleines Restaurant in Berlin an den Rand des Ruins treibt...Im Restaurant „Kanaan“ in Prenzlauer Berg hängt an der Wand ein Herz mit israelischer und palästinensischer Flagge. Die Betreiber, der israelische Jude Oz Ben David (44) und der Palästinenser Jalil Dabit (43), versuchen etwas, was im Nahen Osten noch nicht klappen will. Eine gemeinsame, friedliche, wirtschaftlich erfolgreiche Existenz von Juden und Arabern an einem Ort.
Das funktionierte bei den beiden, die sich in Berlin kennenlernten, seit zehn Jahren gut. Aber seit den Anschlägen des 7. Oktober, dem Gaza-Krieg und der aufgeheizten Stimmung auf Berlins Straßen klappt das mit dem wirtschaftlichen Erfolg nicht mehr. Es gab Vandalismus, Spucke am Fenster, Hass-Kommentare.
So ist im Vergleich zum August 2024 der Umsatz um 60 Prozent eingebrochen. Ein Teil davon sei die allgemeine schlechte wirtschaftliche Lage in Deutschland, sagt Ben David. Aber ein großer Teil auch die politische Lage im Nahen Osten und ihre Auswirkungen auf Deutschland. Eine BILD-Videoreportage von Til Biermann.
