Putin Eyes Atlantic Corridor As Russia Expands Ties From Sahel Into Guinea-Bissau | Firstpost Africa

Russia is expanding its Africa strategy beyond the Sahel. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has hosted Guinea-Bissau’s foreign minister in Moscow, with both countries agreeing to deepen cooperation in trade, education, fisheries and the blue economy while announcing their first ever Russia-Guinea-Bissau Business Forum. The meeting comes just days after Lavrov met the defence ministers of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, signalling Moscow’s growing effort to build a broader geopolitical corridor stretching from the Sahel to the Atlantic coast.
