Venuto alla luce nell’Oasi delle Farfalle del bioparco Zoom Torino, è l’unico piccolo bradipo didattilo nato in Italia quest’anno ed è già impegnato nei primi tentativi di appendersi a testa in giù, pur avendo appena 30 giorni.Il piccolo convive con 5 diamanti di Gould e molte specie di insetti e farfalle, oltreché con i suoi genitori. Una nascita importante per una specie in declino: solo in Brasile, l’Unione Internazionale per la Conservazione della Natura stima una perdita del 9% del suo habitat forestale, a causa della conversione in pascoli e coltivazioni intensive.«Potremo scoprire il sesso del nuovo arrivato solo quando crescerà la sua autonomia e sarà possibile procedere al primo controllo medico veterinario», spiega Irene Carnovale, curatrice del bioparco. «Nel frattempo assistiamo alle sue prime prese, mentre aggancia al ramo prima una zampa e poi l’altra, nel tentativo di coordinare tutti e quattro gli altri per testare il proprio equilibrio».
