Nigeria flood crisis deepens with hundreds homeless and dozens still unaccounted for
Emergency aid has finally reached the flood-ravaged town of Mokwa in central Nigeria, four days after devastating floods swept through the area. As survivors struggle to receive desperately needed food and basic supplies, the true scale of the disaster is becoming apparent. At least 200 people have perished, with many more still unaccounted for. The flooding, which arrived unusually early this year, caught local officials unprepared, leading to delays in relief efforts. Survivors now face the grim task of searching for missing loved ones whilst contending with the risk of disease from decomposing bodies trapped beneath the debris.Al Jazeera's Ahmed Idris reports from Mokwa, Nigeria.
