January 20, 1989 - It seems like the 1988-89 NBA champion Detroit Pistons can be split into two distinct segments. On one side is one of the deepest rotations of all-time. Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer, Mark Aguirre, James Edwards, Vinnie Johnson, John Salley, and Rick Mahorn. But then on that other side was a whole different crew holding down the fort on the back end. Guys like Micheal Williams, John Long, and Fennis Dembo. And even beyond that crew, there were the temps like Pace Mannion and Jim Rowinski, who each had a chance to hop on the championship train for a few weeks before eventually being left behind at the next station.While Dembo made 31 appearances for Detroit in 1989, this game is literally the only time Pace Mannion entered into the scoring column as a member of the Pistons (it only makes sense that Pace would do so against the Pacers, doesn't it). The pair finished with four points a piece, helping to propel the Pistons to the vaunted 130-point plateau, securing free Buddy's Pizza for all those in attendance at the Palace of Auburn Hills that evening.
