In 21 hours, voting will take place for all 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra – including the 227 seats of the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). From Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, Eknath Shinde, Uddhav Thackeray, and Raj Thackeray to Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi, all the big leaders were seen campaigning. These are local body elections, but the campaign issues ranged from Hindu-Muslim relations to India and Pakistan. However, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were conspicuously absent from this entire election. The question is, has the Congress party given up on Maharashtra? Has the Congress stopped contesting elections in Maharashtra? The question is, will the Thackerays make a comeback in the BMC, or will the BJP win here as well?
