Цель Illyria — очаровывать слушателей изящными мелодиями и пульсирующими ритмами метала, одновременно делая этот жанр доступным для новых слушателей по всему миру. За последнее десятилетие группа из пяти человек получила несколько возможностей выступить на разогреве у таких международных групп, как Cattle Decapitation, Alcest и Wolves In The Throne Room, а также у таких национальных групп, как Ne Obliviscaris, Polaris и Make Them Suffer.
В своём одноимённом дебютном альбоме 2016 года группа Illyria использовала традиционные приёмы постблэк-метала, которые получили высокую оценку как в мировой прессе, так и среди фанатов. В 2019 году Illyria выпустила свой второй альбом «The Carpathian Summit». Альбом сохранил узнаваемый стиль постблэк-метала, но с более прогрессивными элементами. Второй полноформатный альбом был хорошо принят местной и мировой аудиторией, что позволило группе набрать более 250 000 прослушиваний, а синглы «Kenopsia» и «Wilderness» возглавили чарты.
После напряжённого периода пандемии в 2020 году группа выпустила новый сингл «Frostbite» с новым составом гитаристов: Стивен Барретт и Андре Авила заменили Блэклока и Уоррена. В 2021 году Стажич переехал в Хампти-Ду, Северная территория, из-за работы и семейных обстоятельств. Группа снова стала сольным проектом, и все участники из Перта ушли. Альбом «In The Arms Of Persephone» был выпущен в феврале 2022 года, чтобы отпраздновать «конец эпохи» группы, а также подготовить слушателей к будущим музыкальным проектам Illyria.
