Il CEO della "benefit corporation" che ha rilasciato Claude è arrivato a ipotizzare che, senza adeguate misure di sicurezza, entro sei-dodici mesi un sistema sufficientemente autonomo potrebbe arrivare a controllare ampie porzioni di Internet. E non solo. "Se un modello di intelligenza artificiale è abbastanza potente, può aggirare i tentativi di spegnerlo", ha detto Amodei.
Le sue parole si sono intrecciate con un altro caso che ha scosso il settore nei giorni precedenti: le dimissioni pubbliche del ricercatore Jacob Coxon, che ha lavorato al pre-training dei modelli sia per OpenAI che per Anthropic. Con un post su X, Coxon ha lanciato l'allarme: "Ho trascorso gli ultimi tre anni a fare ricerche sul pretraining sia a OpenAI che ad Anthropic. Nessuna delle due aziende sta agendo in modo responsabile. Stanno correndo dritte verso una superintelligenza auto-migliorante e stanno giocando d'azzardo con le nostre vite".
