Mentre Firenze si sveglia, alle 7 in punto e col sole che sorge, suona la Martinella in cima a Palazzo Vecchio, e ricorda l’82esimo anniversario della liberazione di Firenze. Una storia antica, quella di questa campana, che originariamente era fissata all’interno dell’arco situato in Via Por Santa Maria, dove c’erano le mura della città, e veniva suonata solo quando la guerra era iniziata oppure, sempre per allertare la popolazione, quando la battaglia era inevitabile e oramai imminente. Accanto alla campana, seduta sulle tegole di Palazzo Vecchio, la sindaca Sara Funaro. Presente alla celebrazione anche Simone Guaita, nipote della partigiana Maria Luigia Guaita, partigiana che 82 anni fa, in piena notte, dette a una parte della città la notizia che Firenze era stata liberata e ricevette l’incarico di diffondere la notizia in Palazzo Vecchio dove si sarebbe dovuta suonare la Martinella e sventolare il tricolore.
