Isiah Thomas' Generic No. 42 Jersey Performance vs. Boston (1985 Playoffs)

May 8, 1985 - "The leprechaun took my #11 jersey that night in Boston."

That's the closest we got to an explanation as to why Isiah Thomas' No. 11 jersey went missing prior to Game 5 of the 1985 Eastern Conference Semifinals. With the series knotted at two following Vinnie Johnson's signature Microwave moment in Game 4, Thomas and the Pistons pushed a high octane tempo upon the Celtics in Game 5 before ultimately falling, 130-123.

Afterward, Thomas, who finished with 18 points (8-of-16 shooting) and 7 assists before fouling out, admitted to being a bit thrown off by the jersey swap.

“When they unpacked the uniforms tonight mine wasn’t there,” Thomas said. “It threw me off a little bit. I don’t think my head was in the game during part of the first quarter. It just didn’t feel right.”

The Celtics went on to eliminate the Pistons at the Pontiac Silverdome two days later before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.
