Viene sostituita da un nuovo canale chiamato “Italiana”, dedicato ai territori del Paese, mentre l’archivio del vecchio canale sopravvive solo su RaiPlay, sotto l’etichetta di progetto di e-learning. A sostegno della scelta l’azienda ha portato i bassi ascolti, ma la decisione ha raccolto molte critiche da accademici, mondo della scuola e opposizione, con un’interrogazione parlamentare del Partito Democratico e una petizione su Change.org che ha superato le 11mila firme. Sullo sfondo resta una domanda più grande: che spazio ha oggi la divulgazione scientifica nel servizio pubblico?
Per capire cosa si è spento davvero sul 57 bisogna tornare indietro di qualche anno, come ricostruisce in diretta #DavideCoeroBorga, tra i volti e gli autori più presenti della programmazione scientifica del canale: “Rai Scuola era l’erede di Rai Educational, quella resa macchiettistica da Corrado Guzzanti con la mitica Vulvia, e raccoglieva lezioni e approfondimenti per gli studenti. Poi nel 2013 succede qualcosa. Già da qualche anno Superquark di Piero Angela era stato relegato alla fascia estiva, con una programmazione simile a quella di Jessica Fletcher, perché non faceva più gli ascolti di una volta. Esistevano altri programmi di divulgazione con bravissimi narratori, penso ad Alberto Angela, a Mario Tozzi, a Voyager, criticato all’inizio e poi diventato un grande programma, con narratori in stile BBC che parlano guardando in macchina. Mancava però quello che faceva Piero Angela: sedersi con qualcuno, intervistarlo, approfondire, portare ricercatrici e ricercatori magari per la prima volta davanti a una telecamera”.
