Sean Duffy gives Thanksgiving travel update, discusses 'civility' campaign
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy discussed travel expectations for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday at Newark Liberty International Airport.Millions of Americans are heading into what experts say will be one of the busiest Thanksgiving travel periods in years, both in the air and on the road. Following disruptions from the longest government shutdown that snarled travel nationwide, airlines and airports are now preparing for record-setting demand.
AAA projects 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home between Tuesday, November 25, and Monday, December 1, setting a new record for domestic Thanksgiving travel.
Duffy also answered questions on his new civility campaign, bonuses for air traffic controllers, and more.
The Trump administration’s airline-focused civility campaign will aim to "inspire" a return to decorum and politeness while addressing a record surge in unruly passengers disrupting flights for millions of travelers, according to a press release provided to Fox News Digital.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) said in a statement that 776 air traffic controllers and technicians will be awarded $10,000 for their "patriotic work to ensure the safety of the skies during the Democrats’ 44-day government shutdown."
