Earlier this month, Perry, who belongs to the Republican Party, made a sensational charge that the USAID was funding organisations such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram. However, he provided no evidence to back this claim. This has spurred concerns among Nigerian lawmakers who have linked Perry’s accusations to longstanding suspicions about international non-profits aiding terrorist outfits in the region, including providing firearms training.
