Kings and Generals' historical animated documentary series on the history of Rome continues with the sixth episode of our coverage of the Second Punic War with Scipio's masterpiece - the Battle of Zama in 202 BC. Previously we have covered Hannibal's masterpiece - the battle of Cannae in 216 BC (https://youtu.be/gObVeaEzklM). In 202 BC, two of history’s greatest commanders finally faced one another on the plains of North Africa. Hannibal Barca, the terror of Rome and victor of Cannae, met Publius Cornelius Scipio, Rome’s rising star, in a confrontation that would decide the fate of the Mediterranean world. After sixteen years of brutal war, betrayals, and shattered armies, the Second Punic War reached its dramatic climax at Zama. Hannibal returned from Italy with his battle-hardened veterans, while Scipio arrived with a disciplined Roman army and powerful Numidian allies. Before the fighting began, the rivals met face to face in a tense parley—peace was offered, rejected, and fate sealed. This episode follows the final campaign step by step: Carthage’s failed armistice, the last diplomatic maneuvers, the march to Zama, and the clash of elephants, infantry, and cavalry. We break down the tactics, formations, and critical decisions that led to Rome’s ultimate victory—and Carthage’s irreversible decline. Witness how Scipio reversed Cannae, how Hannibal’s last gamble failed, and how one battle reshaped Roman dominance for centuries to come. This is the dramatic conclusion of the Second Punic War.
