Kwik Kian Gie dikenal sebagai sosok ekonom andal dan menjadi tokoh penting dalam sejarah kebijakan ekonomi Indonesia.
Ia juga pernah menjabat sebagai Menteri Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional/Kepala Bappenas di era Presiden ke 5, Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Di kalangan PDIP, Kwik Kian Gie dihormati sebagai fungsionaris yang konsisten membela kepentingan rakyat.
Ucapan duka turut disampaikan oleh Sandiaga Uno, yang pernah bekerja sama dengan Kwik sebagai penasihat ekonomi.
Sandi mengenang Kwik Kian Gie sebagai mentor dan nasionalis sejati yang tak kenal lelah memperjuangkan kebenaran.
Ia turut mengunggah foto kenangan bersama Kwik dan Prabowo Subianto sebagai penghormatan terakhir.
Dalam unggahan tersebut, Sandi mengenang Kwik sebagai nasionalis yang berani berdiri di tengah badai demi kepentingan bangsa.
Lantas, kepergian Kwik meninggalkan duka mendalam bagi dunia ekonomi dan politik Indonesia.
Sosoknya akan selalu dikenang sebagai intelektual yang mengabdi demi kemajuan bangsa.
