L’Unione Europea torna a discutere del #ChatControl, il regolamento che prevede la scansione dei messaggi privati per contrastare la pedopornografia online. Ma il progetto, spiega Matteo #Gracis, direttore de L’Indipendente, nasconde ben altri rischi: “È una misura di sorveglianza di massa, fatta e finita. La chiamano sicurezza, ma è un inganno”.

“Quando sentiamo parlare di sicurezza e comodità — avverte #Gracis — dobbiamo alzare le antenne, perché l’inganno è dietro l’angolo”. Il direttore sottolinea come l’iniziativa europea nasca “ufficialmente per limitare la pedopornografia online”, ma in realtà “serve a introdurre strumenti di controllo generalizzato”. “Con la scusa della sicurezza – dice – infilano misure che compromettono la #privacy di milioni di cittadini. È sempre lo stesso schema: dichiarano un’emergenza, e a forza di emergenze ci stanno togliendo pezzi di libertà”.
