Es gibt einen Deal – zumindest vorläufig! Kurz vor Ende seines Ultimatums verkündet US-Präsident Donald Trump Dienstagabend (MEZ) auf „Truth Social“ einen zweiwöchigen Waffenstillstand mit dem Iran. Voraussetzung für das Ende der Bombardierungen sei die Öffnung der Straße von Hormus. Trump: „Der Iran will, dass es passiert – sie haben genug! Genauso wie alle anderen auch!“Der Präsident verspricht auch, den Stau in der Straße von Hormus, wo viele Schiffe auf Durchfahrt warten, zu bewältigen. Nun werde „viel Geld verdient werden“ und der Iran könne mit dem Wiederaufbau beginnen, so Trump weiter. Doch viele Fragen zum Deal sind offen. Am Freitag sollen Verhandler der USA und Teheran in Pakistan die Details ausarbeiten.
