What you see here is a farewell convoy of Fire and Rescue Station Downtown in the center of Hamburg. This is a true Hamburg fire service tradition for retirements. A convoy consisting of a vehicle from the “Feuerwehrhistorik Hamburg” association and active operational vehicles sets off from the fire station on Admiralitätsstraße.
Two special vehicles can be seen in this case. In addition to a former water tender from the “Hansa” generation. This vehicle was actually stationed at the Downtown fire station from 1983 to 1999. By the way, the abbreviation “Hansa” stands for Hamburg’s automatic-transmission standard fire engine of the eighties.
Following behind is the newest vehicle in Hamburg’s fleet. One of the new rescue fire engines (HLF) of the professional fire brigade, which have only been in active service for a short time. Several of these HLF have been ordered and are being delivered to the stations one after another. Although they look very similar to the new HLF used by the volunteer fire brigades, there are some differences, such as a different lightbar or the option to open the pump compartment not only with a flap, but also with a classic roll-up shutter.
