At least 20 people have died after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan. According to the local authorities, hundreds have been injured and the toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue. The earthquake struck near Mazar-e-Sharif, one of the country's largest cities that is home to about 500,000 people. The earthquake destroyed part of the holy shrine of Mazar-e Sharif, Balkh province spokesperson Haji Zaid said, referring to the country’s historic Blue Mosque.---
