بامداد چهارشنبه چهارم تیرماه، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا پایان رسمی دوازده روز جنگ میان ایران و اسرائیل را اعلام کرد، در حالی‌که حملات هوایی اسرائیل به تهران، اصفهان، شیراز و کرمانشاه همچنان ادامه داشت. رهبر جمهوری اسلامی تنها دقایقی قبل گفته بود: «ملت ایران، ملتی نیست که تسلیم شود.»
آتش‌بس، به گفته معاون رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، «پیروزی بزرگ آمریکا» بود؛ چرا که تأسیسات هسته‌ای ایران بدون تلفات برای آمریکا نابود شدند. اسرائیل اعلام کرد با دستیابی به تمام اهداف نظامی، از جمله نابودی زیرساخت‌های هسته‌ای و نظامی، با آتش‌بس موافقت کرده است.
در این راهبرد، از بازوهای منطقه‌ای جمهوری اسلامی مانند حماس، انصارالله و حزب‌الله تا فرماندهان سپاه قدس در داخل ایران هدف قرار گرفتند. سکوت این گروه‌ها و همچنین روسیه و چین، پیام معناداری برای تهران داشت.
در جریان جنگ، آسمان ایران بی‌دفاع شد و پهپادها و جنگنده‌های اسرائیلی آزادانه در عمق کشور پرواز کردند. زیرساخت‌های نظامی و ارتباطی فلج شد و برنامه هسته‌ای، که سهمی کمتر از دو درصد در تولید برق کشور دارد، عملاً به ویرانه‌ای میلیارد دلاری تبدیل شد.
اکنون رژیم جمهوری اسلامی با حکومتی تضعیف‌شده، زیرساخت‌هایی ویران و اقتصادی آسیب‌دیده، وارد دوره‌ای نامعلوم شده است.
