El presidente chino, Xi Jinping, indicó el jueves en una reunión con el secretario general de la ONU, António Guterres, en Astaná, capital de Kazajistán, que, como la plataforma central para la práctica del multilateralismo y el avance de la gobernanza global, el papel de las Naciones Unidas solo puede fortalecerse, no debilitarse. Xi declaró que China siempre se adhiere al verdadero multilateralismo y apoya a la ONU para que esta desempeñe un papel central en los asuntos internacionales. Por su parte, Guterres agradeció a China por apoyar la causa de las Naciones Unidas, practicar el multilateralismo y desempeñar un papel clave y constructivo en la promoción de la paz y el desarrollo mundiales.
