Days after the Rwanda-backed militia started an offensive, the Congolese government acknowledged that M23 rebels had taken control of and taken over Bukavu, the second-largest city in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.The DRC communications ministry said in a statement on X that it was "doing everything possible to restore order, security, and territorial integrity" and that it was keeping an eye on the situation "marked by the entry of the Rwandan army and its auxiliaries.
