VIDEO: Chicago daycare worker arrested by ICE

A video shows federal agents detaining a teacher outside a North Side daycare early Wednesday, Illinois Congressman Mike Quigley said.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. outside Rayito de Sol Spanish Immersion Early Learning Center, located at 2550 W. Addison St. on the city’s North Side.

The Department of Homeland Security said that federal agents did not target a daycare.

"Officers attempted to conduct a targeted traffic stop of this female illegal alien from Colombia. Law enforcement pursued the vehicle before the assailant sped into a shopping plaza where he and the female passenger fled the vehicle. They ran into a daycare and attempted to barricade themselves inside the daycare—recklessly endangering the children inside," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

"The illegal alien female was arrested inside a vestibule, not in the school.
Upon arrest, she lied about her identity," McLaughlin added in a post on X.

This comes as immigration enforcement faces legal scrutiny in Chicago federal court.
