Menurutnya, sistem pilkada lewat DPRD bisa menjadi solusi untuk mengatasi persoalan yang muncul dalam pilkada langsung, terutama terkait praktik politik uang atau money politic yang semakin meresahkan.
“Makanya tujuan dari penyederhanaan pemilu itu kan yang pertama, diharapkan dapat memangkas posisi money politic yang semakin bias, ini kan menimbulkan sesuatu yang tidak sehat dalam demokrasi. Money politic ini menjadi isu yang krusial dan menjadi sorotan bagi semua pihak,” ucap Firman, di Kompleks Parlemen, Senayan, Jakarta, Rabu (30/7/2025).
Usulan pilkada tak langsung ini sebelumnya dilontarkan oleh Menteri Koordinator Bidang Pemberdayaan Masyarakat sekaligus Ketua Umum PKB Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin).
