Trump's $103K H-1B Fee: Impact on Indian Students, Tech Workers Explained | Immigration | Spotlight
The Trump administration is proposing a possible $103,265 fee on H-1B visa petitions, adding a massive new cost to America's skilled-worker immigration system. The proposed fee would come on top of existing H-1B charges and could apply to cap-subject petitions, including some workers with advanced US degrees. The Department of Homeland Security says the fee could generate $8.8 billion annually. The move comes after a federal court blocked Trump’s earlier $100,000 H-1B charge. With Indian nationals accounting for nearly 70 percent of approved H-1B petitions, India could face a major impact. The administration is also reportedly considering a $100,000 OPT fee for international students and plans targeting B1 and B2 visas held by some asylum seekers. Gursshheen Gahllen tells you more.---
