Gli Stati Uniti d'America hanno vinto, stravinto anche a costo di sganciare due atomiche. L'Europa, distrutta e estremamente stanca dalla sanguinosissima guerra mondiale, non può rialzarsi da sola. Allora gli USA fanno ai Paesi europei un'offerta impossibile da rifiutare (tranne che per l'Unione Sovietica e i Paesi del blocco orientale). Il Piano Marshall proposto dall'amministrazione statunitense di Truman consentirebbe agli Stati europei di rialzarsi economicamente. Un piano fatto di una grande parte di sovvenzioni, ovvero prestiti a fondo perduto, e di prestiti a basso interesse. Così l'Europa nel secondo dopoguerra può rinascere dalle proprie ceneri. Ma a quale costo? Il costo dell'enorme influenza #USA. Dal piano Marshall nascerà poi la #NATO, e da lì gli Stati Uniti posizioneranno in #Europa svariate basi permanenti.
Negli anni abbiamo inoltre assistito alle diverse guerre statunitensi: la Guerra fredda in primis. L'opposizione USA all'URSS si allargò ai Paesi d'Europa, che non dovevano cadere nelle mani dell'influenza sovietica. Si ricorda in questo senso l'esistenza dell'organizzazione Gladio in Italia, l'intesa tra CIA e servizi segreti italiani in funzione anticomunista.
Arriviamo ai tempi più recenti con le guerre statunitensi in Medio Oriente, i conflitti tra mondo arabo e Israele, e, infine, #Russia e #Ucraina. L'Europa su quest'ultimo conflitto sembra schiacciata: da una parte gli USA di Trump accennano alla diplomazia e alle trattative, dall'altra la #Cina, poco interessata a una guerra in Occidente e in buoni rapporti con Putin. L'UE invece taglia tutti i ponti e ribadisce che con la Russia non si tratta, o almeno non si dovrebbe. Rapporti economici e commerciali in via di azzeramento e sanzioni. All'interno della stessa Europa non sono nemmeno tutti d'accordo sull'approccio "Kallasiano", intransigente e antirusso a ogni costo. In questo contesto storico e geopolitico nasce allora una domanda: e se non ci fossimo "anglosassonizzati"?
