AS, mengecam keputusan Menteri Keuangan Israel, Bezalel Smotrich yang mengambil alih dana Palestina, sekitar 35 juta dolar atau Rp569 M.
Juru bicara Departemen Luar Negeri AS, Miller, mengatakan uang itu adalah pendapatan pajak yang dikumpulkan atas nama Otoritas Palestina (PA).
Namun, Smotrich justru akan mengalihkan dana itu untuk keluarga Israel yang kehilangan kerabatnya dalam serangan Palestina.
"Sesuai dengan keputusan yang memberikan kompensasi kepada para korban, kami mengganti kerugian dengan jumlah yang sama dari dana PA dan mentransfer uang yang diberikan kepada keluarga korban serangan Palestina," jelas Smotrich.
Tentu, keputusan Menkeu Israel itu membuat AS geram.
Menurut Miller, keputusan Smotrich salah dan tidak tepat.
Miller menegaskan dana tersebut adalah milik rakyat Palestina, bukan warga Israel, sehingga dana itu harus segera diserahkan kepada pemiliknya.
