Namanya sempat populer setelah menjatuhkan vonis mati kepada Ferdy Sambo, namun ia tidak memperoleh dukungan di DPR.
Dalam rapat pleno Komisi III DPR RI, Selasa (16/9/2025), Alimin tidak mendapat satu pun suara dari anggota dewan.
Dari 16 calon yang mengikuti uji kelayakan, hanya 10 nama yang dinyatakan layak untuk diajukan lebih lanjut.
Ketua Komisi III DPR RI, Habiburokhman, menyebut proses seleksi telah dilakukan terbuka sejak 9 hingga 15 September 2025.
Para calon diuji mulai dari rekam jejak, integritas, hingga pandangan mengenai penegakan hukum.
Alimin menjadi sorotan ketika ditanya soal pandangannya terhadap hukuman mati
Menjawab hal itu, Alimin menegaskan keputusannya dijatuhkan demi keadilan sesuai hukum, bukan berdasarkan keyakinan pribadi.
Dengan hasil nol suara, langkah Alimin dipastikan terhenti.
