El sábado 18 de octubre, Huerta habló en la manifestación por el “Día sin Reyes” en Watsonville, California, donde se pronunció en contra de la agenda de deportaciones masivas del Gobierno de Trump. “Es una limpieza étnica”, plantea Huerta en comunicación con Democracy Now! “Nunca habíamos visto ataques tan tremendos contra nuestra gente”.
Huerta es la presidenta y fundadora de la Fundación Dolores Huerta. Además, en la década de 1960, cofundó junto a César Chávez la Unión de Trabajadores Agrícolas de Estados Unidos. En el marco de la intensificación de las redadas contra inmigrantes, Huerta describe el trabajo conjunto realizado por la organización People for the American Way y la Fundación Dolores Huerta para lanzar un cortometraje de ficción que muestra cómo vecinos y vecinas se unen en una acción de desobediencia civil no violenta para evitar que el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) se lleve a una anciana inmigrante.
