Welcome to another episode of my Oceania Series as I continue my journey to visit every country in the world.In this episode, I explore Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, to experience everyday life beyond the tourist attractions. I begin the day at the unique King Solomon Hotel, where reaching some rooms requires riding a cable car, making it one of the most unusual hotels I have ever stayed in.
From there, I walk through the streets of Honiara, visit the local market, meet friendly locals, and explore the busy fish market to see what people buy and eat every day. One thing that surprised me the most was how common gutka (betel nut) chewing is here. Almost everyone I met seemed to be chewing it, making it a fascinating part of the local culture.
As my journey in the Solomon Islands comes to an end, I head to the airport. But with heavy traffic and time running out, I find myself in a race against the clock. Will I make my flight, or will I get stranded? Watch till the end to find out!
