Russia is escalating its attacks on Ukraine with Moscow launching at least 260 missiles on the night of August 26. Several missiles struck Kyiv, including warehouses, power grids and logistical hubs. Now, a report has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin could launch a tactical nuclear strike against Ukraine. The report cites three officials with ties to the Kremlin who state that Putin is increasingly looking to increase hostilities as peace talks come to a dead end. As per US intelligence reports, Russia has at least 2,000 tactical nuclear weapons, including the Iskander-M, the Kalibr cruise missile, gravity bombs and the hypersonic Kinzhal. A tactical nuclear weapon is different compared to strategic nuclear weapon, and is meant for limited military missions. Since the Ukraine war, Russia has conducted at least 5 tactical nuclear drills. However, experts believe, a nuclear strike is still far from reality.
