Taiwan: How Russia is learning from China in the gray zone | DW News
“These theaters are connected” — that’s the stark warning to European powers from Taiwan. With Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping intensifying defense cooperation and fears growing of a two-front war in Europe and Asia, National Security Council Senior Advisor Hsu Szu-chien called on Europe to overcome its fears of selling weapons to Taiwan. Speaking exclusively to DW, Hsu called for coproduction between NATO members and Taiwan, saying “Let's not wait until the next war really happens… It will be too late.” Hsu said the recent incursions by Russian drones and aircraft into NATO airspace suggested that Russia was learning from China, saying Taiwan had learned “you have to be firm” when dealing with such threats. Hsu also addressed calls from US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for Taiwan to help the US move 50% of its chip production onshore, saying that Taipei would be open to a “pragmatic negotiation,” adding that Taiwan supports US “AI supremacy.”Chapters:
