(LaPresse) - Amanda Knox, la studentessa americana condannata e poi assolta dall'omicidio ai danni della sua coinquilina britannica Meredith Kercher, avvenuto a Perugia il 1° novembre 2007, si sta preparando per il debutto del suo spettacolo comico all'Edinburgh Fringe, scatenando l'ira della sorella della vittima. «In precedenza, come molti sapranno, la famiglia ha mantenuto una sorta di silenzio riservato e credo che sia stata la cosa giusta da fare, ma in questo caso penso che ci sia stato un impatto piuttosto forte su molte persone», ha dichiarato Stephanie Kercher. «Eravamo fermamente convinti che la violenza legata a questo tema non fosse appropriata per un programma comico. Ma avrei sperato che, a distanza di vent'anni, avremmo avuto forse un po' più di empatia nell'utilizzare questo tema e questa associazione con un evento così traumatico nelle nostre vite. Spero davvero che d'ora in poi lei possa cercare di prendere le distanze dal nome di Meredith. Capisco benissimo che abbia la sua storia da raccontare, ma l'abbiamo già sentita troppe volte». Lo spettacolo si intitola “Cartwheel”, un riferimento a una storia secondo cui la Knox avrebbe fatto la ruota nella stazione di polizia dopo la morte di Kercher. Lo spettacolo debutterà venerdì sera e resterà in cartellone per 11 serate consecutive nell’ambito dell’annuale miscuglio di stand-up, teatro e musical che si tiene nella capitale scozzese. È stata lanciata una petizione online per chiedere la cancellazione del programma, che ha già raccolto oltre 7.200 firme. La petizione afferma che il programma "si fa beffe degli orribili eventi che hanno portato all'omicidio di Meredith e cerca in qualche modo di trasformare questa tragedia in intrattenimento".
