In this video, I discuss my hypothesis that Gloria Zhao was promoted to Bitcoin Core lead maintainer due to nepotism and her relationship with John Newbery, one of the co-founders of Brink, which provided Gloria's funding.

This calls into question Bitcoin Core's pretense of meritocratic and transparent decision making, while helping to explain how someone who was so young and inexperienced was still able to rise to such a position of power in Bitcoin Core.

I think that Gloria's actions when dealing with inscriptions spam and op return filters have been disastrous for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Core needs to do a thorough house-cleaning and most of the lead devs should be defunded.

If my hypothesis is not accurate, please let me know and provide evidence and I will issue a retraction.
