NG4: Fresh MN [Chapter 01]
READ DESCRIPTION FOR NOTES:Wasn't planning on recording this, and not sure if I'll finish it on camera or not since familylife and streaming/recording isn't a great combination.
NG4 allows you to go into Master Ninja through NG+ straight off the bat, unlike previous games where each higher difficulty first had to be tackled fresh. It feels designed around this, enemies come in enormous waves, hit like a truck (I left a few instantdeaths in to give an idea) and generally feel tailored to you fielding a fully decked out Yakumo or Ryu. I decided against doing it this way, and going in fresh.
As a result the first fight is the hardest, four waves of enemies that all kill you in basically one hit. Due to Xbox having horrible recording methods I lost a bit of the first fight and a few after, but don't think I'll have that issue going forward.
Regular DDO will OHKO you with their rush attack, but cannot intervene in the air as much. Same with the polearm guys, just watch for the indicators. XYXX into charged blood slashes works well and is pretty safe. Don't ever use the Y ender, or the third bloodslash in the air, both are super unsafe and you will die.
I don't use the preorder DLC bonus currency.
Purgatory seems locked to Normal Mode, which is super weird. If I knew that iId have used the highest level, but I was afraid of OHKO-city.
Against Shuriken guys, the same combo works but you have to wait for an opening. Going on higher ground works as they cannot throw their shuriken upwards, which helps. The Lightning however CAN reach you from the swordsmen, so stay wary.
The middlefight really was just UTs. I was stuck there for a solid hour trying to do it legit. Without any of your future tools, and everything being OHKO, this was the only strategy I could find to beat that engagement. It's incredibly lengthy, so one slipup leading to death wasn't fun at all. One viewer still owes me 10$ because he said I'd quit there. Pay up son.
Some checkpoints are nuts as well, sometimes you can redo fights immediately, but other times you're stuck replaying 10 mins.
Bossfight went terrible, I show some of my strategy in the first clip. In general you want to bait the jumpslash, afterwhich he'll always do his charged attack which you can counter with a Bloodslash. After getting behind him he'll always do a turnaround attack that you can Fatal Strike + Punish, and then again (he'll only do it twice). I severely fuck it up in my winning attempt (obviously) and somehow win and decided 'fuck it' and kept the attempt. Looking back I kind of wish I didn't as I could've easily gotten a no-damage attempt here and saved myself some cash as economy is always important in the first few chapters.
