There was nothing more painful than being a Devil May Cry fan back in the 2010s. At the time, the latest game in the franchise was 2008’s Devil May Cry 4. It was a game that introduced players to the greatest feeling and playing action game protagonists around, but lacked the content and polish necessary to flesh out the experience. While Devil May Cry 4 is still a good game at the end of the day, it was clear even at release that it was held back by deadlines and budget. Back then, players forgave most of the game’s shortcomings because they had the reasonable expectation that a potential Devil May Cry 5 was right around the corner. I mean, with how popular the Devil May Cry brand was at the time, how could it not be? These games were system sellers, Dante was one of the main faces of Capcom, and Devil May Cry 4 was the best-selling game in the series at the time. You’d think that Capcom would want to strike while the iron is hot, but I guess they were more interested in striking the bottom of their bank accounts because not too long after the release of Devil May Cry 4, the company tried doing their whole Western-focused initiative, with one of the new games in question being an edgier reboot of Devil May Cry.
To a lot of people, DmC: Devil May Cry symbolized the death of hope and all the happiness in the world. It’s safe to say that Devil May Cry’s fresh coat of paint didn’t exactly resonate with the hardcore fans. This was a big gut punch not just because the story and characters as we knew it were morphed into these unrecognizable faces, but also because that amazing combat established in 4 would be completely discarded in favour of something much less compelling. Fun to be had for sure, but a far cry from what came before. Since this reboot didn’t exactly light the world on fire, the Devil May Cry franchise fell into this limbo of sorts. For the longest time, it felt as though Devil May Cry was dead, since we went years without hearing anything from it aside from the odd rerelease or two. However, this wait did nothing but make the eventual reveal of Devil May Cry 5 all the more sweeter. The game that fans thought to be an impossibility had suddenly become reality. And less than a year after its reveal, Devil May Cry 5 was released.
Devil May Cry 5 is one of the best action games ever made. In this Devil May Cry 5 review, Devil May Cry 5 analysis, and Devil May Cry 5 retrospective, I will be taking a look at Devil May Cry 5 7 Years Later to ask the question "Is Devil May Cry 5 still a Masterpiece?" Devil May Cry 5 was the grand return of the Devil May Cry franchise after a long hiatus and a bad Devil May Cry reboot. While there are a lot of Devil May Cry 5 Review videos out there, none of them have properly delved into the inner workings of Devil May Cry 5 and talk about the Advanced Devil May Cry 5 Combos or anything like that. This Devil May Cry 5 can also double as a Devil May Cry 5 Story Explained video but not a full replacement for playing the games yourself. This video was written and recorded before the announcement of any Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition or anything like that, so I will only be judging the game through the original Devil May Cry 5 PC release and the Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition release. So does Devil May Cry 5 hold up 7 Years Later? The only way to find out is to watch this Devil May Cry 5 written and edited by Nam's Compendium. Receive SMS online on sms24.me
