Juru bicara PDIP Ahmad Basarah mengatakan, Ketua Umum PDIP Megawati tidak pernah melarang kadernya yang terpilih sebagai kepala daerah untuk ikut serta dalam retreat.
Berdasarkan surat edaran, Megawati hanya meminta kepala daerah PDIP untuk menunda perjalanan ke Magelang.
Lebih lanjut Basarah mengungkapkan, Megawati menginstruksikan bagi kepala daerah yang belum menjalankan retreat untuk kembali ke wilayahnya masing-masing.
