Hal itu disampaikan Menteri Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah Abdul Mu'ti dalam peluncuran Gerakan 1000 Anak Putus Sekolah SMK Berdaya melalui Program PKK (Pendidikan Kecakapan Kerja) dan PKW (Pendidikan Kewirausahaan) di Kantor Kemendikdasmen, Jakarta, hari ini, Senin (30/6/2025).
Menurut Abdul Mu'ti, ada tiga faktor utama penyebab tingginya angka putus sekolah yakni faktor ekonomi, infrastruktur pendidikan, dan alasan kultural.
Adapun alasan kultural yakni budaya pernikahan dini yang masih banyak ditemui di sejumlah daerah.
Sementara itu, Abdul Mu'ti mengatakan bahwa kompetensi merupakan bekal yang sangat penting bagi lulusan sekolah formal. Menurutnya, ijazah memang penting sebagai bukti pendidikan formal tetapi bukan satu-satunya faktor yang dibutuhkan di dunia kerja.
Menurutnya, dunia kerja saat ini semakin menuntut keterampilan dan kompetensi praktis yang bisa dibuktikan lewat pelatihan dan sertifikasi nonformal.
Abdul Mu'ti meminta agar siswa SMK juga mengikuti pelatihan di Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja (LPK) maupun Balai Latihan Kerja (BLK) sejak masih duduk di bangku sekolah.
